Easter Holidays – a word from the Acting Principal Conchubhair Mac Ghloinn

A Chairde,

As we approach what would normally be our Easter break, I would like to thank you for your commitment and dedication to your learning the past few weeks in such difficult circumstances. For everyone in the school community, the last few weeks have been challenging in adapting to our new realities. The teachers and Yearheads have asked me to congratulate the Student body who are for the most part engaging with great work ethic in online learning. For those that haven’t engaged, it’s time to re-evaluate and come back after the break and put a big effort in for the final term that will stand to all.

I would like to thank our dedicated teachers who also had to readapt to new methodologies and who are putting in tremendous work teaching and correcting online. While exam years should still commit to a study plan over the two weeks, for the most part it will be time to relax and look after ourselves. Although our boundaries are tightened, there are many ways that we can enhance our overall Wellbeing via exercise, music, reading, films etc. It is extremely important that we look after our mind and body during this time. Be sure to check in with your friends, family and anyone you might feel is struggling at this time.

I have no doubt that this is a difficult time for our Leaving Cert and Junior Cert classes and often the uncertainties can add to this. However, time is needed to balance your work over Easter with rest, exercise and down time. Once any decision is made on the examinations, the school will be in contact with you immediately.

It will be challenging to stay in over the two week break for sure. Remember you are saving lives by staying in and in due course we will no doubt appreciate all the joys that our freedom has to offer.

We thank all the parents for their amazing work in creating a learning environment for the students at home and for keeping you all safe and well in these uncertain times. We especially thank all our parents working on the frontline saving lives during this crisis.

Can I remind you all that our care team (Stiofán, Pádraig agus Isabel)  are providing weekly updates for all students on their site on matters related to your care and wellbeing.

Míle buíochas,

Le dea-mhéin,

Conchubhair

A Chairde,

Briseadh na Cásca ag teannadh linn, ba mhaith liom buíochas a ghabháil libh ar fad as ucht bhur ndílseacht agus bhur dtiomantas don fhoghlaim le cúpla seachtain anuas sna imthosca nárbh fhéidir a thuar. Bhí na seachtainí anuas dúshlánach don scoilphobail uilig agus muid ag cur in oiriúint do na tréimhsí eisceachtiúla seo. D’iarr na múinteoirí agus Cinnbliana orm ‘Comhghairdeas’ a rá libh ar fad atá ag comhoibriú le heitic iontach oibre ag foghlaim ar líne. Dóibh siúd nach bhfuil ag comhoibriú linn, tá sé in am daoibh machnamh a dhéanamh agus teacht ar ais tar éis na Cásca agus iarracht mhór a chur isteach sa téarma deirneach don scoil. Seasfaidh an obair seo libh ar fad sa todhchaí.

Ba mhaith liom buíochas a ghabháil lenár múinteoirí tiomanta a bhí orthu modhanna nua a chur ar fáil agus sárobair  ar siúl acu ag ceartú agus ag múineadh ar líne. Cé go mbeadh air na blianta scrúdaithe coinneáil le plean staidéir thar an gCáisc, den chuid is mó den am, bíodh sé in am dúinn ár scíth a ligint agus aire a thabhairt dúinn féin. Cé go bhfuilimid srianta, tá go leor bealaí gur féidir linn cur lenár bhFolláinn go ginerálta trí Cheol, aclaíocht, léitheoireacht, scannáin srl. Tá sé ríthábhachtach go dtugaimid aire dár gcorp agus dár n-intinn le linn na tréimhse seo. Déanaigí cinnte go ndéanfar seiceáil isteach le bhur gcairde, bhur ngaolta agus éinne a cheapfá a bheadh ag streachailt faoi láthair.

Tá a fhios againn go maith gur thréimhse dhúshlánach amach’s amach é seo dár ranganna Ardteiste agus an Teastas Shóisearaigh agus cuireann an éiginnteacht go mór leis. Áfach, tá sé tábhachtach an mheá a chothromú le linn na Cásca idir staidéar, aclaíocht agus scíth. Pé uair a ndéanfar cinneadh ar na scrúdaithe, beidh an scoil i dteagmháil libh go láithreach.

Beidh sé dúshlánach fanacht laistigh don choicís go cinnte. Cuimhnigí go bhfuil sibh á dhéanamh chun beatha duine a shábháil agus beimid in ann go gairid sult a bhaint as na gnéithe difriúla a bhaineann le saoirse inár saol.

Gabhaimid buíochas leis na tuismitheoirí uilig mar gheall ar an suíomh mhaith foghlama a chuirtear ar fáil dár scoláirí sa bhaile agus sibh ag coinneáil slán sábhailte iad sna tréimhsí éiginnteacha seo. Buíochas mór ach go háirithe le gabháil chuig ár dtuistí atá i lár an aonaigh ag obair go crua sna hospidéil, tithe altranais agus araile le linn na géarchéime seo.

Ba mhaith liom meabhrú daoibh go bhfuil ár bhFoireann Cúraim (Stiofán, Isabel agus Pádraig) ag cur uasdhátú seachtainiúil dár scoláirí ar a suíomh maidir le hábhair a bhaineann le bhur gcúram agus bhur bhfolláin.

Táimid ar fad ar fáil trí ríomhphost má tá ceisteanna nó buairt oraibh. Bíodh sos maith agaibh; tugaigí aire ar a chéile agus beimid ag súil sibh a fheiceáil go gairid.

Míle buíochas,

Le dea-mhéin,

Conchubhair
